Cycle 11 Credits pending (Cycle 10 Credits: 14 PE/A2).
Please Note: The status of credit approval will be updated the week of April 26th.
Please note this is not a YAMUNA® certification course, nor is it eligible to be used as a re-certification course for existing YAMUNA® practitioners. This course is designed solely for self-use for massage therapists and does not certify participants to work with clients/patients. You can expect deep, technical work, all of which you will practice on yourself; there is no partner practice in this class. However, if you choose to certify in any of YAMUNA® modalities, this class can serve as your per-requisite.
The key to delivering consistently high quality hands-on therapy is the therapists’ ability to maintain stamina and focus during treatment. This two-day custom-designed workshop created by Beth Sampson, RMT workshop offers RMTs tools, techniques, and practices to support their physical and mental wellbeing as the basis for consistent, high quality hands-on treatments. The focus of this workshop is to empower therapists to improve the effectiveness of patient care by exploring and supporting a different and more sustainable biomechanic and work ergonomic for themselves in their clinical practice. The majority of this workshop focuses on teaching RMTs the hands-on techniques of Yamuna® Body Rolling (YBR®) for self-use. This workshop teaches participants to use basic (YBR®) routines that have been tailored to address common pain areas and injury patterns that are endemic to RMTs in order to restore proper biomechanics and work ergonomics to optimize hands-on treatment delivery. By the end of the workshop, RMTs have a deeper understanding of their problem areas in their own bodies and walk away with tools and practical applications to maintain structural integrity in their bodies so they are able to consistently and effectively execute manual therapy techniques with their patients without incurring injuries themselves.
YBR® is a highly-effective system to relief and prevention of tension headaches, lower and mid back problems, neck and shoulder tension, foot and calf fatigue, and wrist and hand problems stemming from the repetitive stress syndromes that are particular occupational hazards for RMTs. This workshop will teach you to release and re-align the entire body, restore upright posture, build physical and mental stamina, increase range of motion, improve flexibility, balance, build core strength, muscle tone, and speed healing when injuries do occur.
- Increase your ability to identify and describe common causes of faulty biomechanics and work ergonomics that create or exacerbate pain and injury that negatively impacts hands-on patient treatment.
- Identify, describe and demonstrate how to change your own faulty biomechanics and work ergonomics to consistently deliver effective hands-on patient treatment.
- Understand and demonstrate how to access your breath to increase stamina and consistency of patient treatment.
- Learn, describe and demonstrate Yamuna® Body Rolling techniques to treat and resolve your own physical issues to improve the effectiveness of hands-on patient treatment.
- Learn, describe and demonstrate Yamuna® Body Rolling techniques for quick and effective routines throughout the day at your clinic to maintain consistently effective delivery of hands-on patient treatment.
- Identify and describe the challenges and behaviors that keep you from delivering consistently effective patient care.
- Describe how you can address challenges and behaviors that keep them from delivering consistently effective patient care.
Beth has been an RMT since 2009 and has been a Yamuna® Practitioner/Instructor since 2003. Upon the request of her fellow RMTs she originally developed this workshop in 2010 in response to the problematic “5-year” burn out rate faced by RMTs.
